We have curated a list of fun day trips for you, all within a short driving distance from Langford.

Fisgard Lighthouse (Fort Rodd Hill)
Langford is the ideal base camp for your Southern Vancouver Island adventure. Located 15 minutes from Downtown Victoria and the famous Inner Harbour, and only 25 minutes from the World Famous Butchart Gardens and Saanich Peninsula wine and cider region. Whether you are looking to go whale watching with the resident killer whales, have afternoon tea at the Empress Hotel or visit the Parliament Buildings, Langford is centrally located, so you can make the best use of your time on the Island. We hope you love it so much that you will return soon and tell all your friends about your adventure!

Just past Colwood is the charming countryside of Metchosin. Home to scenic beaches and nature trails, Metchosin also boasts a diverse community of artisans and farmers from whom you can buy direct. Be sure to visit Bilston Creek Farm while in Metchosin, where you can enjoy a locally curated picnic or pick up crafted keepsakes of your island getaway.

Just beyond Sooke is Port Renfrew, known for epic surfing, hiking trails and windsurfing. Avatar Grove is not to be missed, a 50-hectare area of old-growth forest. Experience the Pacific Marine Circle Route and take the long way round getting back to Langford. The road in this section is a former logging route, recently paved over to encourage Vancouver Island visitors to venture through the threading road surrounded by tall trees and rushing waterfalls. Be sure to check a map in advance and be aware that cell phone coverage in this area is intermittent.

The South Island Spirit Loop is calling your name. The Loop is the ultimate Southern Vancouver Island adventure connecting Langford, Sooke, Port Renfrew and the Malahat. Find a deeper connection to both the sea, land, community and culture. Peer out over the Finlayson Arm, Mount Baker and the distant Coast Mountains atop the spectacular Malahat Skywalk or hike, fish, camp or choose the perfect spot for a quick bite or a relaxed dinner.
